About My Work
The "style" of my work is commonly referred to as "Studio Furniture". "Studio Furniture" is a term used to describe a variety of furniture of unconventional and artistic design. It is typically work created in a studio workshop setting. The majority of my work is unique, one of kind handmade creations.

Design Philosophy
Artistic furniture encompasses both that of high functionality to the purely aesthetic. I try to apply a little from both ends of the spectrum to reach a happy medium of form and function. My design aesthetic embraces simple lines and forms. I often use figured hardwoods thus simpler forms allows the beauty of the wood to be celebrated. When carved or inlaid details are used, I often design them as organic elements providing movement or visual excitement to the design.

I see furniture design as reduced scale forms of architecture. Like buildings, furniture design addresses spaces, construction, function, lifestyle and aesthetics. I often capture inspiration from nature and the landscape of the Midwest Prairie. I strive to embrace a broad design appeal allowing my work to exist in harmony amid a variety of interior settings and décor.

Building My Work
Presently I run a one man studio workshop. My work is built by hand and hand finished as well. I travel throughout the country, primarily the Midwest, looking for the finest hardwoods available. I seek woods that are exceptional in color and figure. I carefully select wood for each project to best carry out the design and intended expression. Contrasting or figured woods are often used to portray texture, color and movement.

In addition to quality wood, I purchase and use only the finest quality hardware. Any visible hardware such as knobs, handles or hinges must compliment the design and not distract from it. I am often drawn to uniquely designed hand forged hardware that is in keeping with my palette of natural materials.

I construct my furniture to last for generations. And, as an art expression, it will never go out of style. I use durable finishes that, with care, will provide lasting beauty. My furniture is built to be used as well as please the eye.

Purchasing My Work
Most of my work is sold through galleries or at shows specializing in art, fine craft or furniture. However I welcome opportunities to create work for individual commissioning clients. I enjoy meeting clients and designing work that addresses their needs and creates a uniquely special element for their homes or businesses.
